The Effect of Temperament and Self-regulation on Children¡¯s Self-esteem

Abstract
This study examined the effects of temperament and self-regulation on children¡¯s self-esteem. The study subject sample was 106 children¡¯s 3 to 5 years(51 boys, 55 girls) attending kindergarten. The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation and regression analysis using SPSS 23.0. The study results are as follows. First, temperament and self-regulation had a significant correlation on with children¡¯s self-esteem. Second, temperament and self-regulation are predict variables for children¡¯s self-esteem. The significance of this study is to investigate the relation and influence between temperament and self-regulation on self-esteem. This study suggests that children's self-esteem can be improved if parenting and counseling are conducted after recognizing the individual characteristics of children at home and counseling field.
